Yield and oil composition of peppermint cultivars grown in the Isparta climate of Turkey

Peppermint, Mentha piperita L. belonging to the Lamiaceae family, contains a valuable essential oil known for its high menthol and menthone content. During vegetation seasons of 2016 2017, field studies were conducted in Turkey?s Isparta climate by using randomized blocks examine yield composition new peppermint cultivars. In these studies, Multimentha produced highest herb even though quality is relatively poor due low Yield levels other cultivars similar each with same statistical group. study, Citaro, Tokat CL-8, Chocolate varieties had contents within chemical Varieties reacted differently years harvesting seasons, including summer autumn. The content Citaro CL-8 was higher fall harvest compared harvest. On hand, cultivar remained stable throughout seasons. study has revealed that yields are low, oils obtained from all except conform European pharmacopoeia.
